Miguel Arroyo has been a professional photographer since 1979. In 1977, he became a serious student of photography and has been studying his craft ever since. During his 35 plus years as a photographer he has been published numerous times in newspapers, magazines and books. His photo “Tar Beach“ was used on the cover of the book written by Dr. Felix Padilla titled “Puerto Rican Chicago”. Miguel has always been interested in producing photos that have a different look, that create interest, and stimulate conversation. Seven years ago Miguel converted to digital photography and has not used his wet darkroom since. Digital photography has allowed him to create the type of photography and paintings that he had always envisioned while photographing with film. It has allowed him to express on paper and canvas what his mind had always envisioned when he first pointed his camera. Miguel has always enjoyed photographing people and runs the portrait side of his business from his house where he specializes in Senior High School, Children, and Family portraiture.

For the last six years he has been exhibiting some of his culture and landscape photography and digital paintings at various juried art fairs and festivals in Chicago and its suburbs. Photographing Puerto Rico’s landscapes and rich culture is his favorite type of fine art photography.
Miguel is currently a member of various artist associations including ISLAA (Illinois State Latino Artists Association). Winner of various art fairs during the last few years, Miguel plans to continue expressing his love for photography by exhibiting his artwork and sharing his form of fine art photography/Digital Painting.
